Heilika Pikkov

Bio

Heilika (b. 1982) studied film and television directing at Tallinn University and spent a semester at the University of Central Lancashire in UK. In 2005, she worked for a few months in a small TV station in Israel and directed her first documentary Cherubs‘ Revolt, which was screened on Estonian Television and at several festivals. Since then she has worked as a freelance filmmaker, co-operating with several Estonian film production companies. Her latest author films have been developed and produced in Silmviburlane.

Besides making documentary films Heilika is also internationally well-known curator and cultural manager. For 8 years she was the organiser and programmer of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival‘s animation festival Animated Dreams (including being the programme director of a networking platform and training event AnimaCampus Tallinn). From 2016-2019 Heilika worked as a programme manager for the international programme of Estonia 100 and the EU Presidency at the The Government Office of Estonia. She was also the member and chairman of Audiovisual Art's Endowment at the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and member of the board at the Estonian Documentary Guild. Currently she works as the Culture Adviser at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
